I’ve never met cruise guests that are so passionate about their cruise line. After dinner we went onto the theatre and really I think this is what a Disney cruise is all about. We watched Tangled the musical and it was great, it was definitely of broadway quality and no expense was spared.
Is everything free on Disney cruises?
Guests who are not vaccine-eligible because of age must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result (paid for by the Guest) taken between 3 days and 24 hours before their sail date. The test should be a NAAT test, rapid PCR test or lab-based PCR test. Unlike some cruise lines, Disney will not accept rapid antigen tests or rapid antigen "test-at-home" kits. Reservations must be made in advance, and a small surcharge applies for babysitting services within the nursery (all other kid's clubs are complimentary). At the upper end of the dining echelon is Palo, the adults-only specialty restaurant situated on Deck 10 aft. Unique to Disney Wonder is Tiana's Place -- a creole-themed restaurant patterned after the classic Disney film, The Princess and the Frog.
There Are Kids Clubs For Kids of All Ages
It’s a 760-foot water slide filled with show scenes, lighting, music and more that touches down into a lazy river. Disney has a massive global footprint across its theme parks, films and merchandise. Among its many offerings is the Disney Cruise Line, whose fleet of five ships sails all over the world. Disney Cruise Line offers a loyalty program called Castaway Club.
Disney Wonder Rooms Are Custom-Built For Families and Are Larger Than Average
This was a Marvel Day at Sea cruise which you can read more about in my review and guide to Marvel Day at Sea. Disney Wonder has been the setting for family vacations for about 25 years, and it doesn't show any signs of hanging up its waterslide anytime soon. There's a spring stop in Hawaii, followed by sailings from San Diego to Mexico before it resumes its summer season beginning in May in Vancouver. However, some of the best character interactions will be the ones that aren't announced or planned. You may see a character on the promenade waving goodbye to land as you sail away from a port or "sleep-walking" in their pajamas at night when no one else is around. Scheduled character meet-and-greets are listed on the itinerary each day in the Disney Cruise Line app.
The kids club counselors were always welcoming and ready to answer any parent questions. The entertainment staff did a great job involving as many kids as possible in the activities and were friendly and patient. While the extreme forward and aft ends of this deck are taken up by cabins (more on those below), Deck 5 houses the Oceaneer Lab and Oceaneer Kids Club, along with the "It's a Small World" nursery. Even these fancier nights lean more toward the casual side, with many women dressed in summer or maxi-dresses as opposed to long, formal ones.
This influences which products we write about and where and how the product appears on a page.
What’s included
There seems to be no such thing as a discounted Disney cruise or a Disney cruise deal. I found that our trip cost easily 2-3x the cost of other cruises! I’m not sure if all the Disney extras were really worth the inflated price. I spoke to quite a few people onboard and since I’ve got home, who LOVE Disney cruising. There was fake snow, lots of people dancing and it was cool to see everybody having such a good time. It was freezing though, I imagine this would have been quite different in the sunshine.

The ship returns to Fort Lauderdale from October 2024 through May 2025, again offering three- to five-night Caribbean and Bahamas sailings. This time, certain itineraries include Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, Disney's new private destination on the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas. Disney Dream will offer a series of three-, four- and five-night Bahamas and Caribbean cruises out of Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, through early May 2024. Ports of call in the Bahamas include Nassau and Castaway Cay, Disney's longtime private island. If you're interested in Disney Dream nightlife and are traveling with younger kids, I recommend cruising with extended family or friends; this way, each adult can take turns staying with sleeping children while the others go out. Alternatively, put your kids in Oceaneer Club after dinner and the show, but not every child wants to stay up that late or leave their family for the club.
Soda is Included on The Pool Deck
Once your kiddo turns 11 (or 10 with parent permission and enough space), they can start visiting Edge, which has a submarine-under-the-sea look on Disney Magic. In the interest of setting realistic expectations, expect pools to look much more like this (or worse) during the heat of the day. I tried it once, and that was enough for me to say I've done it.

Mouse ears and costumes are encouraged, and you'll see little princesses and pirates roaming the ship, as well as Marvel costumes during Marvel Day at Sea; adults often dress up for the latter, as well as Pirate Night. Disney Magic has come a long way since its 1998 debut as the first vessel on the Disney cruise line. Continual updates – including a 21-night dry dock refurbishment in May 2023 – have kept the ship up-to-date, and both kids and adults who are young at heart will find plenty of pixie dust scattered throughout their cruise. It would also be a real plus if Disney Magic integrated a magical scavenger hunt type of activity that you see on other Disney ships. This would layer in one more thing for the kids to do on a sea day or between other activities. If you ever get the chance to sail on Disney Magic — or any of the Disney ships — don't miss the Sail Away party that takes place shortly after the muster drill as the ship pulls out to sea.
Or if it was just a case of paying a premium for the Disney brand. This was one of my favorite things about our Disney Cruise, it was so easy to make new friends! Disney intentionally sits smaller parties with other parties that are similar so we were seated with two other moms and their teenagers. This ended up working out great for everyone and by the end of the trip we had all exchanged numbers with hopes of doing a cruise at the same time again some day. I also met other Disney Adults at adult only events on the ship, like wine tasting, which was a pretty seamless way to meet new people with similar interests. This is something that just doesn't happen quite as naturally and seamlessly at Disneyland or Walt Disney World unless you're local to the area.
On the upper decks, the Cove Cafe is half coffee shop, half bar by the Quiet Cove adult pool. Grownups don't have to get out of the water to order drinks at the swim-up Cove Bar adjacent to the pool. Forward of the adults area, a juice bar in the Senses Spa will kick start your day or refresh you after a workout with fresh juice blends. Most families stick to casual options for lunch, but if you want a sit-down, multicourse meal, the Royal Palace is there for you. Sit-down lunch is a great option on embarkation day when you don't want to drag your bags around a crowded buffet. The cabins and suites on Disney Dream were designed with families in mind, more so than on nearly every other cruise ship afloat.

Simply put, there is food everywhere, all the time, and nearly all of it is incredible. Most food on the ship is included with your fare, though there is one specialty dinner restaurant that costs money. Dream's three- to five-night cruises feature one night each of pirate/tropical and formal-optional dress, with the remainder of the evenings being cruise casual.
Disney Magic deck plans are designed in a way that you never have to go far for food, drinks or entertainment. Cabins are spread over six of the 11 passenger decks, and you can find restaurants, bars and lounges on four others, including a number of them around the triple-deck Disney Magic atrium. Untangled Salon, Hook's Barbery, Senses Spa, Senses Fitness center, and the adults-only deck and pool area offer more grown-up entertainment and relaxation, proving that a Disney cruise is just as fun for adults. The Disney Dream ship layout allows for easy passenger flow – mostly thanks to its three elevator banks and smart design. Family and adult-only pools are located on Deck 11, while Deck 12 is home to the ship’s two adult-only restaurants – Palo and Remy. The rest of the dining venues on Disney Dream are spread across multiple decks, offering easy access to food and treats from almost every corner of the ship.
